Dancecode is a dance school / performing arts school in Milton Keynes and Cranfield.
Dancecode was founded in 2016 by Lauren Carpenter and Ben Sang. Dancecode is a dance school / performing arts school in Milton Keynes and Cranfield. Classes are taught by experienced and professional teachers, teaching a variety of styles, including: street dance, musical theatre, jazz, ballet and more. Every year dancecode holds its big summer production, held at a large theatre. Every end of year dancecode holds its award show ‘DCA’ (Dancecode Awards) to honor its students' hard work and progress. Since opening dancecode has managed to successfully collaborate with many different companies in Milton Keynes and perform at exciting events, including: performing at the centre MK with ‘Motus’, Campbell Park for ‘Festival Of Giants’, various school fetes and an extra special performance in Disneyland Paris in 2019. As well as regular classes dancecode also provides special dance workshops taught by industry professionals, giving the students amazing experiences and opportunities. Dancecode are soon entering into competitions and exams and are excited for the future ahead.
MEET THE TEAM
Jen has been teaching dance professionally for over 6 years. She trained at Northampton College in Musical Theatre after becoming Nationwide Champion in Rock‘n’Roll and Disco Freestyle 4 times, competing at the famous Blackpool Winter Gardens during her teenage years. She later represented the UK in a hip hop crew at the World IDO championships. Jen has appeared multiple times on TV (BBC Xchange, BBC news and ITV News) and in theatres around the country during her career, for dancing, modelling and presenting as well as choreographing major live events. Her passion for choreography and teaching both children and adults has taken pupils to compete at a National level and she is so excited to join Dancecode to provide more opportunities for students to fall in love with dance, just like she did!
CREATIVE CONSULTANT / FOUNDER
Ben trained at the Urdang Academy in London. He went on to become a professional dancer, performing in many musicals, tours and live events around the world. In 2014 Ben started his journey with The Walt Disney Company. He became a dancer and performer at Disneyland Paris, and then went on to join the Disney events team in London. Ben has also appeared in television and film, working with the likes of BBC, ITV, Disney and more. Ben was also director for Fame and Peter Pan for Rare Productions UK, and also became co-founder, creative director, teacher and choreographer for Dancecode in Milton Keynes. Ben now continues his work with Disney and Dancecode, currently as performer, dancer and maintenance choreographer at Hong Kong Disneyland and creative for Dancecode.
Lauren trained professionally at Tiffany Theatre College in Essex on a three year musical theatre course, and graduated in 2012. During her time at college, she performed at many events such as Move It, Paul Mitchell Hair Show at Excel, and the L'Oreal hair colour trophy awards, as well as taking her ISTD teaching qualifications in Modern Theatre. After graduating, she went on to perform at a prestigious Warner Leisure Hotel as part of the entertainment team, and was further promoted to dance captain where she took charge of rehearsals, choreography and direction of numbers. Since then, Lauren has grown a passion for sharing her knowledge of performing with children and adults, and is thrilled to be starting her lifelong dream of opening her own dance school alongside Ben.
L.I trained professionally in Performing Arts and media. Graduated with a BTEC National Diploma at Oakland’s college and BA Hons at Bedfordshire University. Alongside making music, visual editing, networking and travelling. L.I Has had multiple appearances on TV and music videos and is still working alongside cheer and dance world champions. Whilst travelling and building a name for himself, L.I has hit 1st place in every solo and duo entry across the UK! Being a dance coach over 6 years and finally building his own dance company, ‘L.I Dance Company’. L.I has a record of 1st places, Grand Champions and dancers who represent team England at Worlds! L.I is very versatile in skill and passionate about pushing forward and elevating his surroundings and looks forward to seeing the future of Dancecode rise.
Amy did her dance teacher training at Pattisons College, Coventry, graduating in 2013. During her training she performed in many Shows, Events, Christmas Light Switch ons, Fashion Shows, Charity Events and in Flashmobs. Highlights including performing at the NEC Birmingham, the LG Arena, Milton Keynes Theatre and The Belgrade Theatre. Amy also completed the IDTA syllabus by taking the final exams in the main three disciplines, Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz.
